We are recruiting Commercial Divers for our client Handy Deed to work in installations of equipment and structures in Vema Seamount during construction of docks, the seaport and breakwaters. The work may involve filming and photograph underwater sites, guide crane operators.
You will inspection equipment and structures that are below the surface of water and make sure that any bad equipment or structure is safely removed. You may be required to use a variety of power and hand tools, such as drills, sledgehammers, torches, and welding equipment. Communicate with workers on the surface while underwater, using signal lines or telephones. You must be able to cut and weld steel, using underwater welding equipment, jigs, and supports. You will also inspect and test docks after construction is completed, ships, bouyage systems, plant intakes and outflows, and underwater pipelines, cables, and sewers, using closed circuit television, still photography, and testing equipment.
Responsibilities will include installing pilings or footings for piers and bridges. Install, inspect, clean, and repair piping and valves. Obtain information about diving tasks and environmental conditions before you under go your duties, make sure that the conditions for the dive are safe. Operate underwater video, sonar, recording, and related equipment to investigate underwater structures or marine life. As well as performing activities related to underwater search and rescue, salvage, recovery and cleanup operations.
You will also conduct underwater surveys, recover objects by placing rigging around sunken objects, hooking rigging to crane lines, and operating winches, derricks or cranes to raise objects, repair ships, bridge foundations, and structures below the water line, using caulk, bolts, and hand tools.
Most importantly you will be expected to be able to set or guide placement of pilings and sandbags to provide support for structures such as docks, bridges, cofferdams, and platforms, taking appropriate safety precautions, such as monitoring dive lengths and depths, and notifying the employer before a diving expedition is to begin. You are responsible to take test samples and photographs to assess the conditions of the vessels or structures before any activity begins, and make sure that any waste is removed to prevent pollution in the sea.
