Electrical Engineer for the 5th Avenue North West project

Handy Deed, the construction company of Mount Vema is looking for an Electrical Engineer with relevant industry experience and an accredited degree to design, develop and maintain the electrical control systems and components to required specifications for the City of Mount Vema’s 5th Avenue North West project.
 
As the Electrical Engineer your work will focus on economy, quality, reliability, safety, and sustainability, when designing the electrical system and equipment that will be used first at the 5th Avenue North West, and later across the 20 kilometers road that will make the 5th Avenue and the breakwaters system.
 
You will be involved in the project from the concept and detail of the design, through to implementation, testing and handover. You will also work on maintenance programmes with multidisciplinary project teams, which will include engineers from other specialist areas as well as architects, and geological oceanographers.
 
Responsibilities
You will need to:
  • identify the project requirements
  • design systems and products
  • read design specifications and technical drawings
  • research suitable solutions and estimate costs and timescales
  • make models and prototypes of products using three-dimensional design software
  • work to standards (International Standards)
  • liaise with others in the design team
  • communicate with project managers and contractors
  • attend meetings on site
  • design and conduct tests
  • record, analyse and interpret test data
  • propose modifications and retest products
  • qualify the final product and system
  • service and maintain equipment
  • prepare product documentation, write reports and give presentations
  • monitor the system in use to improve on future design.
 
Salary and Benefits
The salary is:
$90,000 US dollars per year for specialist or chartered engineer
$70,000 US dollars for a senior engineer
$35,000 US dollars for an experienced engineer
$25,000 US dollars for a graduate
Salaries are paid monthly in arrears.
The benefits include paid medical coverage, paid vacation, sick days, holidays, and a pension plan. Benefits are only applicable after you complete three months on the job.
 
Working hours
You will work around 40 hours a week. You may need to work extra and unsocial hours to meet deadlines or resolve design difficulties.
 
Requirements
If your application is accepted, you will be required to open a bank account with a Mount Vema bank, if you do not already have a Mount Vema bank account, and a Mount Vema work visa.
 
What to expect
  • You will be required to work in various locations such as production plant, workshop, office, laboratory or factory, or a mixture of several of these. Depending on the stage of each task, conditions can be hot, dusty or cramped.
 
Qualifications
A degree in electrical or electronic engineering is required. However, other subjects that are also relevant include aeronautical engineering, building services engineering, communications engineering, computing and software engineering, electromechanical engineering, mechanical and production engineering, physics and applied physics, as well as power and energy engineering.

Work experience
Any relevant work experience through a vacation placement, work shadowing or industrial year out would be valuable.
