Police Officer for The Mount Vema District Police

The Mount Vema District Police, is looking for Police Officers to protect the public from crime, as well as supporting victims and witnesses of crime, and provide reassurance to people working in Mount Vema during construction of the City of Mount Vema and after construction.
 
As a member of the Mount Vema District Police police you will work in partnership with the community who will live and work within His Mount Vema Majesty’s realm, you will serve to maintain law and order, protect members of the public and their property, prevent crime, reduce any fear of crime and improve the quality of life for all residents. You will use a range of technology to protect individuals, identify the perpetrators of crime and ensure successful prosecutions against those who break the law.
 
The successful candidates will be members of the Mobile Police Support Unit of The Mount Vema District Police. The District Police aims to be the largest police force in the Kingdom of Mount Vema, with primary responsibilities in providing mobile police support, traffic, and public order within each district division of the Kingdom, will receive orders from the relevant District Administrations and the District Attorney.
 
The Mount Vema District Police will have a broad array of specialized services which you may rely on to do your work, including the Emergency Services Unit, harbor patrol, air support, bomb disposal, anti-terrorism, criminal intelligence, anti-gang, narcotics, public transportation, and public housing.
 
Mount Vema citizenship is not a requirement to apply for this vacancy.
 
When in Mount Vema, your first duties especially during the initial stages of construction will be to work in partnership with the community (the work force) who you will serve to maintain law and order, maintain public order through combating any form of organised crime, countering the threat of terrorism and act against any form of antisocial behaviour.
 
When the City of Mount Vema is completed or when it reaches a point where the building site activities have reached a level of an active community , your duties will increase and you will be expected to work closely with members of the criminal justice system, social workers, schools, local businesses, health trusts, housing authorities, district planners and community groups to provide advice, education and assistance to those who want to prevent crime or have been affected by crime.
 
Responsibilities
As a member of the Mount Vema District Police you will need to:
  • provide a visible presence to deter crime and reassure the community
  • conduct patrol duties on foot, by boat, car, or bicycle
  • develop community knowledge to identify individuals and locations at risk of being involved in crime
  • respond to calls and requests from the public to assist at incidents
  • work alongside the community, liaising with community groups and individuals
  • keep the peace at public meetings, social events, processions, trade disputes or strikes
  • diffuse potentially volatile situations with due regard for the safety of all involved
  • act with sensitivity when dealing with situations such as delivering news of a sudden death
  • conduct initial investigations, gather evidence, take statements and comply with relevant legal requirements
  • interview suspects, victims and witnesses in accordance with relevant legislation
  • conduct arrests with due regard for the human rights, security and health and safety of detained individuals, members of the public and colleagues, as well as yourself
  • prepare crime reports and present case files to senior officers and the Prosecution Service
  • attend and give evidence in court and at other hearings
  • complete administrative procedures
  • submit internal crime reports and criminal intelligence reports
  • take action on information received from members of the public
  • gather, record and analyse intelligence to achieve community safety and crime reduction objectives and provide crime prevention advice
  • take direction on specific duties from senior colleagues
  • attend road/marine-related incidents including collision scenes, vehicle or boat check points and traffic offences
  • enforce road/marine traffic legislation and issue fixed penalties for relevant offences
  • deal with lost or found property.
 
Salary and Benefits
The salary is $25,000 US dollars per year.  Paid monthly in arrears.
The benefits include paid medical coverage, paid vacation, sick days, holidays, and a pension plan. Benefits are only applicable after you complete three months on the job.
 
Working hours
You will be expected to complete an average of 40 duty hours per week, in eight hour shifts. However, since the police will be providing a 24-hour public service, unsocial hours, shift work and emergency call-outs will be a regular feature of the job. Regular shifts will not be longer than ten hours, but overtime may be available and will be paid at a higher rate.
 
Work Conditions
Initially, you will be working from home outside Mount Vema during the first three months of training, however after the training is completed, you will be provided with an Office on site in Mount Vema which can be onboard of a ship.
 
Requirements
If your application is accepted, you will be required to open a bank account with a Mount Vema bank, if you do not already have a Mount Vema bank account.
 
What to expect
  • The daily working environment will be variable.
  • The work environment can be physically demanding, potentially dangerous and at times harrowing. The work is pressurised, with officers facing continual calls on their time and resources. However, it can also be an extremely rewarding role, working with communities and keeping the public safe.
  • Work conditions will be influenced by geographic factors such as the terrain (initially working a 100% floating facilities), and culture (people from different backgrounds and different parts of the world), and the size of the force.
 
Qualifications
You don't need a degree to apply and the role is open to all.
The recruitment process varies but include the following:

  • reference and security checks.
Entry is open to foreign nationals who have no restrictions to live and work in Mount Vema once their work visa has been accepted.

Work experience
Pre-entry experience is not essential, although it's useful to have some experience of working with individuals or community groups.
