Marine Surveyor

Job Title: Marine Surveyor (Hull & Machinery) 
Salary: ₲90,000 golles ($160,000 US dollars) to ₲120,000 golles ($214,000 US dollars)
Location: Global (Remote Working)

The legal entities of Mount Vema in charge of procurement and purchase of work boats, ships and yachts, as well as the management of merchant marine projects are looking for junior, as well as Senior Marine Surveyors to help manage their growing team of Marine Surveyors.
 
As a member of the Surveying team, you will be expected to be in the field conducting hull and machinery surveys on behalf of the employer and its clients. For senior surveyors the job includes being a supporting figure for the junior surveyors.
 
Applicants should be qualified marine engineers and will need to have direct experience of conducting marine surveys. The position will require flexibility to travel regularly and at short notice. Due to the nature of the work many of the Marine Surveying team work from home due to the regular travel however the employer can provide an office locally, should the successful candidate choose to be office based when not travelling.
 
Responsibilities
You'll need to:
• deal with water-based craft, from speedboats to ocean liners, to inspect and evaluate ships, fishing boats and yachts
• make sure that the Mount Vema government classifications are met
• check the vessels against the international regulations, and in times of an accident, to be called as an expert witness as well as an investigator
 
There are various surveys that should be taken throughout the life of a ship. Beginning with the time the ship is being built, the marine surveyor will check over the ship and make sure that the standards are being followed. In addition to the through survey or examination of the ship as it is being built, inspection of the annual survey that should be performed on each vessel.
