Government of Mount Vema

Government of Mount Vema

The Political System of Mount Vema is based on the monarchical constitutional form of government in which a king or queen is the head of the judiciary, armed forces and the executive branch only in times of crises and reigns with limits to their power. The Monarch of Mount Vema is the mentor of the community, guardian of the constitution and protector of the realm. The Sovereign plays a symbolic role by representing the territory abroad and oversees the day-to-day administration of the Vema Seamount and its institutions.  His Mount Vema Majesty’s Government maintains law and order, emergency-rescue departments (such as the fire departments), the military, the police, the executive, the judiciary, and the legislatures.
His Majesty’s Government of Mount Vema

The Kingdom of Mount Vema is a minimal state, with a form of government where the state's only legitimate function aims to be the protection of individuals from assault, theft, breach of contract, and fraud, and the only legitimate governmental institutions are the military, police, and courts. In the broadest sense, it will also include various civil service and emergency-rescue departments such as the fire departments, prisons, the executive, the judiciary, and the legislatures as legitimate government functions.

In the political system of Mount Vema, the Head of State is the highest-ranking constitutional position in the Kingdom, vested with powers to act as the chief representative of the Vema Seamount territory. The office is distinct from a head of government. For example, the distinction is made in article 7 of the Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties, article 1 of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of Crimes against Internationally Protected Persons, including Diplomatic Agents and the United Nations protocol list.

At present, in the political system of Mount Vema, the monarch is both head of state and acting prime minister, therefore acting head of government.

The Right to Self-Determination
Many believe because our community is not a member of the United Nations and is only just over a decade old, doing business with the Kingdom of Mount Vema is not possible for foreign nationals and foreign companies seeking to take advantage of the business opportunities the floating city project is creating. Nothing could be further from the truth. The territory doesn't need a United Nations membership to function as a sovereign territory, or to exercise its inalienable right for self-determination
