The Mount Vema Police has the power to stop, search and arrest people, and vessels within the Vema Seamount territorial waters. When stopping a vessel, or person on reasonable suspicion, the police officer will be in uniform or if not the officer will produce the documentary evidence that he is a police officer.
Reasonable suspicion will never be supported on the bases of personal factors alone such as age, colour, hairstyle, manner of dress or a known previous conviction. In all cases, before commencing the search the police officer must by law activate his police video recorder, and state his name, specify the object of the proposed search and the grounds for proposing the search. When this procedure is not followed the search becomes unlawful.
Royal Police
The Mount Vema Royal Police is a governmental agency belonging to the Royal Mount Vema Department of Justice that serves as both a criminal investigative body and an internal intelligence agency (counterintelligence). Also, it is the government agency responsible for investigating crimes affecting the Kingdom of Mount Vema beyond the territorial waters. The Royal Police receives orders from the Royal Department of Justice and has several divisions including Custom Services, Official & Diplomatic Protection, Organized Crime, Criminal Intelligence, Anti-Drugs, Anti-Fraud, Anti-Terrorist, Scientific Dept., Technology Services, Internal Affairs, Identification Services, Risk and Crime Analysis. The Diplomatic Protection service of the Mount Vema Royal Police is a Specialist Operations branch which main purpose is to provide specialist protection for diplomatic residencies in the Kingdom of Mount Vema.
Role of the Diplomatic Protection services of the Mount Vema Royal Police
The Diplomatic Protection services are responsible for providing static security on sensitive premises, such as foreign embassies, high commissions, and other diplomatic premises. It will also be responsible for security of the Prime Minister’s Residence, and certain private residencies of diplomats, politicians, and some senior military staff. They will also have a responsibility of providing static guards to hospitals, if a person is deemed to be under threat, along with the guarding of some high risk prisoners.
The Royal Police also provides Close Protection Officer to the MVRSS (Mount Vema Royal Security Services) to bolster existing close protection team numbers for VIPs and dignitaries and the places they visit, and have a Sniper team who provide support to wide deployments, and ceremonial events. It also has a dedicated counter-reconnaissance team whose work is secretive as it has close ties to the MVRSS (Mount Vema Royal Security Services), the VISSA (Veman Internal Secret Service Agency) and the RISS (Royal Intelligence Security Services).
Role of the Diplomatic Protection services of the Mount Vema Royal Police

City Police
The City of Mount Vema Police is responsible for law enforcement within the Kingdom of Mount Vema, including crimes committed 4000 meter below sea level. The City Police receives orders from the Ministry of Justice, otherwise known as the Ministry of Law Enforcement and Order and is divided into a number of divisions and includes, Air Dept., Criminal Investigation, Water Police Dept., Underwater Special Dept., Special Dog Dept., Child Protection Dept., Scene of Crime Dept., Finger Print & Photographic Dept., Communication Services Dept., Establishment Services Dept., Media Services Dept. and Video Services. The City Police aims to have an extensive crime scene investigation and laboratory resources, as well as units to assist with computer crime investigations. It is designed to run the anticrime computer network, essentially a large search engine and data warehouse to be operated by detectives to assist officers in the field with their investigations.
District Police
The Mount Vema District Police, aims to be the largest police force in the Kingdom of Mount Vema, with primary responsibilities in providing mobile police support, traffic and public order within each district division of the Kingdom of Mount Vema. The District Police will receive orders from District Administrations and the District Attorney, and will have a broad array of specialized services, including the Emergency Services Unit, harbor patrol, air support, bomb disposal, anti-terrorism, criminal intelligence, anti-gang, narcotics, public transportation, and public housing.
Police Commissioner
The Police Forces of the Kingdom of Mount Vema are administered and governed by the Police Commissioner, who is appointed by the Royal Mount Vema House of Law. The commissioner will serve a five-year term, and will appoint 10 deputy commissioners, one per district. The commissioner and his subordinate deputies will be civilians under an oath of office. The commissioner will not be uniformed member of the police force, however members will be sworn officers of the law, and will be provided with a security detail when he/she acts as commissioner or under other circumstances as approved by the police commissioner.
Commissioner titles:
These individuals are administrators who supersede the Chief of Department, and they specialize in areas of great importance to the Department, such as counter-terrorism, operations, training, public information, legal matters, intelligence, and information technology. Despite their role, as civilian administrators of the Department, they are prohibited from taking operational control of a police station (with the exception of the Commissioner and the First Deputy Commissioner).
Badges:
in the Police Force of the Kingdom of Mount Vema every rank has a different badge design (with the exception of Police Officer and Probationary Police Officer when such post becomes active), and upon change in rank officers receive a new badge. Lower-ranked police officers as well as lieutenants are identified by their badge numbers. All sworn members of the Mount Vema Police have their I.D. card photos taken against a red background. Civilian employees will have their I.D. card photos taken against a blue background when such post become active, signifying that they are not commissioned to carry a firearm. All ID cards have an expiration date.
